South Shore boys golf wrap-up: May 14

South Milwaukee

Nate Witt shot a 4-over-par 76 and South Milwaukee placed sixth in field of 14 in the Racine Invitational at Ives Grove on May 9.

Nick Wainio added a 79 and Brandon Barutt an 80 for the Rockets, who had a team score of 320. Arrowhead and Horlick tied for the top spot at 313.

"I was very impressed with our team score," South Milwaukee coach Jeff Kubel said. "It was the best of the season. Nate, Nick and Brandon all shot their best 18-hole rounds of the season."

South Milwaukee placed fifth in a Southeast Conference mini meet at Tuckaway on May 4.

Barutt was low man for the Rockets with a 5-over-par 41.

On May 6, Witt shot a 1-over 38 at South Hills as South Milwaukee beat Franklin, 164-171.

Cudahy

Todd Martinez shot a 3-over-par 39 at Morningstar to finish in a three-way tie for second and help the Packers place third in a Woodland Conference mini meet May 5.

Cudahy had a team total of 172, finishing 10 shots behind winning Greendale.

On May 7, Martinez had a 6-over 41 at Brown Deer and placed fourth as the Packers finished second in a Woodland mini meet.

Cudahy shot 176, 15 strokes behind Whitnall.

On May 8, John Egli and Martinez each shot a 9-over 81 at Washington County as the Packers defeated Greenfield, 344-360.
