South Shore boys track wrap-up: May 14

Cudahy

Cudahy won three events in the Steinke Laser Co-ed Invitational in Wales on May 8.

C.J. Danecki won the 400-meter dash (52.78 seconds) and Alec Holguin the 3,200 in 10 minutes, 2.36 seconds. The 3,200 relay team of James Hellmich, Zack Plachinski, Danecki and Holguin won in 8:30.49.

Cudahy finished fifth in the field of eight with 53 points. Kettle Moraine won with 190.

On May 5, Dylan Bergold finished in a five-tie with the second-best height in the pole vault (11 feet) in the Woodland Conference Relays at Greenfield.

Mark Emard placed third in the discus (131-1½) and shot put (45-1½).

Cudahy placed ninth in the field of 12 with 39 points. Whitnall won with 96½.

South Milwaukee

Michael Lewis had the top performances in the long and triple jumps in the Southeast Conference Relays at Burlington on May 5. Lewis went 20 feet, 7¾ inches in the long jump and 43-½ in the triple.

Jian Shi (19-2) and Alan Seto helped the Rockets take second in the long jump. Kevin Maass and Shi allowed the Rockets to place second in the triple jump.

The Rockets placed eighth with 41½ points. Racine Park won with 95.

South Milwaukee coach Mark Hoffman said his team could have been sharper.

"They're still fighters and the experience has helped them come together as a team," Hoffman said. "I'm looking forward to a big end of the year now that we've had this great learning experience."

St. Francis

Adam Schultz had the 11th-best distance in the shot put (41 feet, 1¼ inches) in the Woodland Conference Relays at Greenfield on May 5.

St. Francis totaled three points and tied for 11th in the 12-school field. Whitnall won with 96½.
