South Shore girls track wrap-up: May 7

Bryana Banach of St. Francis won the shot put with a best of 34 feet 6 ½ inches in the Altheimer Invitational at Pewaukee on May 1.

Also in the shot put, the Mariners' Mel Franken finished third (432-10 ¾) and Kayla Bieschke fourth (32-1/2). St. Francis received fourth-place showings from Bieschke in the discus (88-5) and Carlee Schultz in the 100-meter dash (13.88 seconds).

The Mariners placed seventh in the field of nine with 40 points. Pewaukee won with 155.

Banach placed second in the shot put at 34-6 in the Greendale Invitational on April 28.

Bieschke finished third in the discus (90-8) and Franken placed third in the shot put (33-9 1/2).

The Mariners placed sixth in the field of seven with 35 points. Nicolet won with 184.

South Milwaukee

South Milwaukee won two individual events and a relay to finish a strong fourth in the Wisconsin Lutheran Invitational on May 1.

Katie Wood won the 1,600-meter run in 5 minutes, 49.86 seconds and Corissa Meyers the triple jump at 35 feet 7 ½ inches. The 1,600 relay team of Brandy Sims, Mallory Wesley, Robyn Kozlowski and Rachel Westover ran first in 4 minutes, 16.41 seconds.

South Milwaukee scored 93 points. Wisconsin Lutheran won with 161, Menomonee Falls placed second with 101 and Waukesha South third with 100.

The Rockets' 400 relay team of Sommer Binash, Lauren Wagner, Kozlowski and Sims placed second in 52.59 seconds.

The Rockets also received second-place finishes Kozlowski in the 200 (27.87), Leah Rendflesh in the 3,200 (12:08.16). Kate Hytinen placed third in the discus (97-0).

There was a trio of fourths from Lauren Beaumont in the 1,600 (5:58.62), Alysha Rendflesh in the 3,200 (13:09.48) and Myers in the 100 hurdles (18.69).

The 800 relay team of Chrissy Barnett, Samantha Czerwinski, Wagner and Wesley placed fifth (1:54.53).

 

Cudahy

Alex Jackson placed third in the high jump at 8 feet and in the triple jump at 30 feet at the Franklin Invitational on April 28.

Jenelle Schilcher finished third in the pole vault at 7 feet.

The Packers finished fifth in the field of six teams with 68 1/2 points. Franklin won with 212 1/2.
